Perfect for controlling the hair and creating a smooth, sleek finish. Gel is especially useful around the hairline, parting and sides where you want everything to sit perfectly in place.

Styling Cream
Helps smooth the hair without making it feel as hard as gel. Great for controlling flyaways and creating a softer polished finish.

Wax or Pomade
Useful for controlling small hairs, smoothing the hairline and creating definition. You only need a tiny amount.

Hair Serum
Adds smoothness and shine and can help control frizz. Be careful not to use too much, especially on fine hair, as it can quickly make the hair look oily.

Hair Oil
Beautiful for adding shine and smoothing dry ends. Use very sparingly and usually through the lengths and ends rather than directly at the roots.

Shine Spray
One of my favourite finishing touches for sleek styles. A light mist at the end can give the hairstyle that beautiful polished, expensive looking finish.

Strong Hold Hairspray
Once your shape is finished, hairspray helps lock everything into place and control any final flyaways.

Ulyana’s Tip: With sleek styling, less is more. Start with a small amount of product and slowly build. Too much wet product can make the hair greasy, heavy and difficult to restyle. As you practise, you will learn how to layer different products to create that perfectly smooth, glossy finish while still keeping the hairstyle secure for the entire wedding day.
